October 2023 Lifeline

It is a joy to write to you following a glorious Sunday where we baptized 3 adults who are following the Lord! It is always a great joy to stir the baptismal waters. We will do so again this month on October 15. If you or someone you know needs to be baptized, contact us at the church office. We are thrilled to watch Jesus work in the hearts of our people as many come to know Him!

Our Trunk or Treat event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 25 from 6:00 – 7:30pm. We’re in great need of your involvement. We need cars (trunks) to be decorated. Contact the church office to get signed up to participate. We will need other volunteers as well. This Trunk or Treat is going to be bigger and better than ever. There will be special live music and some other wonderful additions to our Trunk or Treat event. $1.00 gets you dinner for the evening, a corn dog and a drink. It’ll be fun! Invite your neighbors and friends. We have some invite cards that you can use to invite folks to be at this special event on October 25.

We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper on Sunday, October 22. That is always a very special time in the life of our church as we celebrate the Lord’s supper together.
We have been having wonderful times of fellowship with our men and our men’s breakfasts. In October our men’s breakfast will be on the 28th from 8:00 to 9:00am. David Reed, a Christian counselor here in Gainesville will be sharing about the battles that men face. You don’t want to miss this special event. Brother Paul Waters spoke to our group in September and did a fantastic job. It was so encouraging. Don’t miss David Reed on the 25th. Mark your calendars.

Our ladies will have a special event in November. Look for the details for a special event that will take place November 9.

We have 5 ministry residents that are on our church staff. Melody Barb, Janna Josafat, Tyler Mingonet, Ciera Proudfoot, and Addam Setzer. Each of these residents is a college graduate and is headed into ministry. They do a two year residency here where they learn local church ministry and minister on the University of Florida campus in cooperation with the North American Mission Board of the SBC and or UF BCM. Also, they’re involved in seminary training through Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. We are so proud of each of these residents and their involvement in the life of our church.

Our college students are studying Apologetics on special Sunday evenings each month. Kelly and I are hosting our college students on October 22 in our home. I hope all of our students will be there. We look forward to having you with us as we talk about defending our faith.

Please be in prayer for our building process. We recently crossed a big hurdle with the planning department and now our contractor is finalizing hard agreements with all the subcontractors. We look forward to this project moving forward in the very near future, but we need your prayers. It takes a lot of work to get us off and running. It seems like we keep meeting head on with some delays. Would you pray that God would open up the opportunity for us to begin our entryway project? Thank you for your prayers.

It is a joy to serve as your Pastor. Is a joy to work with our fabulous staff. This month Kelly and I will celebrate our 16th anniversary here at North Central I can’t believe how fast these years seemed to have gone by, but I rejoice in all the milestones and lives that have been touched by the work at North Central Baptist Church. We are indebted to this precious fellowship of believers in our lives for your impact on us and our partnership together. May the Lord continue to bless the wonderful people of North Central!
