It is a joy to write to you today about some unique and wonderful opportunities we have before us as a church family.
This month we will have an opportunity to hear from our Entryway Enhancement Committee. As you know our committee has been working for nearly two years to make a recommendation about how to provide our church family with a beautiful new entrance with restroom facilities and all that we need as our people and guests from our community enter our auditorium for worship. On March 19th we will have a special morning service with the Lord’s Supper as well as presentations from our Entryway Enhancement Committee and our Stewardship Committees. This is not a business meeting in which we will vote on anything. It is merely a vision casting day for our church family! You will hear and see renderings of what our designers and architects have come up with for our new entryway.
You may remember that several months ago our church voted to enlist Foresight Construction Company to be our design build company. We have met with them on many occasions and have come up with the design that we will present to the church family.
Not only will we present the design, but our Stewardship Committee will make a presentation concerning our strategy to fund this amazing project in the life of our church. Our Entryway Enhancement Committee is chaired by Mr. Mike Weldon and the members of the committee include Philip Barb, Fred Hart, Kanika Inglett, Edward Minchin, Cindy O’steen, Cecil Quates, and Amber Rollins.
Our Stewardship Team will be presenting as well. That team is headed up by Geoffrey Patterson, our Chairman, and members include Charlotte Hart, Patrick Inglett, Allison Privette, John Roberts, and Jesse Whitfield and also includes our church treasurer Mr. Wayne Cheshire. Brother Wayne Thomas is the chairman of our Deacons and has been involved in both of these committees’ deliberations. Each of these folks will be glad to speak with you concerning questions you may have after our presentation in the days ahead.
Our plan is to make this presentation on March 19th and then on the 26th at 4:00 PM we will have a Q&A/Town Hall Meeting where we invite all of our members to be present to ask questions of the committees and to discuss the project. On April 2nd our goal would be to present this in an official Called Business Conference and vote on the recommendation. If you have any questions about this process don’t hesitate to give us a call.
There are many other exciting events that are happening in March and we want to mark these on our calendar as we worship and minister together this month!
We will baptize on March 5th. We are thankful for folks that are following Jesus Christ publicly and professing their faith in Christ.
On March 25th we will have another Men’s Breakfast. This past month we had 75 men come and fellowship together and they were encouraged by the testimony of Mr. Will Frazer. Mark your calendars for March 25th for a great time of fellowship for all of our men.
Looking ahead, our ladies are scheduled to have a Women’s Brunch on Saturday, April 1st from 10:00 – noon. We are so thankful for Stephanie Patterson and the Women’s Ministry Team that puts together these events for all our ladies. Our ladies love getting together to fellowship, pray for one another, and be encouraged in their walk with Christ. Let me encourage all our ladies to save this date to make sure you’re here. Bring someone with you on April 1st.
We are also making plans for our Easter celebration on April 9th. Every single Sunday we celebrate the risen Savior, but there is something extra special about Easter Sunday! I encourage you to begin inviting those needing encouragement and needing to hear the gospel to be here on Sunday morning April 9th. It will be a very special morning!
Following Easter, we will have some special events including our One Week Later service on April 16th and some other special events that you can continue to bring your friends to. We look forward to our Easter celebration!
There has been a class of our adults that have been studying the call of God upon our lives and missions for the past six weeks. We have called the class Multiply. Craig Olive has led out in this effort. These classes have been fantastic. I’m so thankful for Great Commission Christians that want to be a part of the going and sending process to take the gospel to the nations.
It is such a joy to be your Pastor. I’m so thankful for the way God is working in each division in our church. I’m thankful for our church staff, many of whom hold other jobs and give of their extra time to make our church what it is. Their goal is to love and equip every member of our fellowship from the youngest to the oldest to be all that we are called to be for Jesus Christ in our community and even around the world. God is at work. Please be in constant prayer as we consider some very important matters that will help us in the days ahead to reach more people for Christ.
We also continue to pray for staff positions that need to be filled. Ask God for a special measure of his grace as we fill these positions.
What a privilege it is to worship with you, to study God’s Word with you, and to minister alongside you as we as we seek to fulfill God’s Great Commission!
Love in Jesus,
Pastor Calvin
