December 2024 Lifeline

Merry Christmas! It is such a joy to celebrate this time of year with our church family.

I’m beginning a series entitled “Christmas Changes Everything.” We’re going to talk about some of the great things that happen because of Christmas. We have hope, peace, joy, and love all coming from the blessing of Christmas.

I want you to reserve 2 very important dates on your Christmas calendar.

The Smoky Mountain Christmas Concert with the Privette family is scheduled for Sunday, December 15 at 6:00 PM. You’ll want to be there a little early to get the seat that you want. This has become our Christmas signature event for our community and church family. What a special night this will be. Mark it down.

The other special night I want you to reserve is for our Candlelight Christmas Eve Service scheduled for 5:00 PM on Christmas Eve, December 24. So many of our community and church family come together this night before Christmas Day to fellowship, to worship, and to participate in the beautiful candlelight Lord’s supper. What a special event this is.

We look forward to a special time of giving for missions during December. The Lottie Moon Christmas offering goal is $25,000. This offering goes directly to the mission field. Our International Mission Board does not use any of the Lottie Moon gifts for administration or other costs. It goes right to the field and reaching people for Christ. It makes up a huge portion of our International Mission Board budget. I want to encourage you to give sacrificially to help us meet our church goal of $25,000.

Our Women’s Ministry is having a special Christmas gathering on Sunday evening December 8.

At the Harvest Festival Banquet, we were led in a glorious time of worship by our music team. We also were reminded that in the fall of 2025 we celebrate our 90th anniversary as a church family. Hebrews 12:1-2 tell us that we are to “run the race that is set before us.” We have a glorious past! And we also have a glorious strategic future! We will be highlighting some things in the coming year to celebrate our heritage and to look forward to reaching more people for Christ in the year 2025. Happy 90th birthday North Central Baptist Church!

What a joy it is to be your pastor! Kelly and I absolutely love Christmas. It’s such a joy to think about the babe in the Manger who was the living Lord Jesus sent to save us from our sins. Let’s take the opportunity to invite our neighbors, coworkers, and friends to worship with us on Sundays and to participate in special events during the season. There’s no greater opportunity to share Christ than in this time of the year. God bless you and Merry Christmas!

Love in Jesus,

Pastor Calvin
