This past Sunday the church tasked the Nominating Committee to bring back a recommended Vision Committee for our church. One of the reasons that I believe this is a great idea is that we are out of Life Group space. We are fast approaching being out of worship space. We are so grateful and thankful for every person who has come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior in recent days, and we are thankful also for folks that have united with us as believers. God is putting together a body of believers to continue to impact our community in the world. Our goal for this church year is to baptize 50. We have already baptized 26, and so we’re thankful for that! Please be in prayer for our Nominating Committee as we meet to ask God to put together a great Vision Committee for our church.
Love Loud weekend is this coming weekend of May 2 and 3. Our Life Groups have developed ministry spots for all our people to be involved in ministry on this weekend. We call it Love Loud because we want to demonstrate love in a big way to our community.
Mother’s Day is May 10. What a special time this always is in the life of our church. We will be dedicating little ones and their parents on this day. Our Women’s Ministry has planned and will host a Ladies Brunch on Saturday, May 9 at 9:30 a.m. Ladies, you don’t want to miss this! Our men are cooking breakfast for you. What a special time this will be.
We are looking forward to honoring our High School Seniors with a special banquet on May 12. We will also have a recognition for them in our Sunday morning service on May 17. We are so grateful and proud of these High School Seniors. They have worked hard, and we will give them our prayers and support as they step into a new phase of life. I’m thankful for Brother Brandon Glisson and all our youth team as they prepare to honor these seniors in our church.
On Memorial Day weekend we have a special event. We will be going to Butler Park at Crescent Beach for baptism. We already have folks that have signed up for this special baptismal service that will take place at 5:00 p.m. on the beach. Many of our people will worship on Sunday morning and leave early in the afternoon to spend some time together with friends and family on the beach prior to us gathering up at 5:00 p.m. for the baptism. It’s always a special time. If you would like to be baptized, please contact the church office. You can call us at 352-373-3341 or email us at info@gatorchurch.com and we will make arrangements for you to be baptized at the beach. I hope that all our congregation will make the effort to try to be there to observe and celebrate with these who are being baptized.
It has been a blessing to look at special scriptures in our series Give Me an Answer from the Bible. We are taking a look at several important questions to ponder as we think about our lives. God’s Word always has the answer. I look forward to seeing you this coming Sunday with your Bible in hand.
The month of May marks the wedding anniversary for Kelly and me. It was 44 years ago that this church gave us the most amazing wedding. So much of our lives has centered around the North Central Baptist Church family. Thank you for the privilege of worshiping here as a college student, serving here as a youth pastor, and now being the pastor for these last 18 years. What a joy!
